| Nev Morrison is RAPID, gave Cardace a 3 yard start in Perpignan and still caught him.

| Berwyn Jones of Wakefield Trinity in the mid 60s was pretty nifty. Not surprising as he had represented GB in the 1962 European Athletics Championships and was regarded as a certainty for the 1964 Olympics had he not turned pro.
Wilf Rosenberg, a South African winger was also pretty nifty for Leeds around 1960 - 63 but lost all his confidence when his face was rearranged in a tackel. He scored 48 tries in 1960/61.
I imagine that Olympic bronze medallist McDonald Bailey was also pretty speedy but he only played 1 game (for Leigh)

| Menzie!!!
I offered him out and you should have seen him run.
Good job he didn't catch me!!!
On a serious note in terms of Eagles players.
Has to be Rob Worrincey?
I suppose the older generation will claim that black and white TV made the players from the 60s and 70s look slower.

| TBH on the whole players of the 60s were slower - training regimes in those days were far less sophisticated than today and consisted mainly of how many pints could you sink afterwards. Roly poly forwards were quite a common sight and most of them would be at walking pace in the 2nd half!
Billy Boston was another try scoring legend - he wasn't terribly speedy but he was built like the proverbial brick outhouse and just ran through players who tried to stop him - rather like Menzie when he is on form.
Have to agree about Rob Worrincey for the Eagles.

| Yeah Worrincy is probably the quickest we've had.
Mark Calderwood in his prime was a quick one.

you wait until you've seen the left winger from Carcassonne - Greg Mazard, boy he is quick !
give him half a yard of space and he's away - if his defensive qualities were up to scratch he would be in the Catalans squad IMO
(ps - don't tell Tubbs - Greg is supoposed to be the secret weapon !)

| I suppose if depends what they mean by fastest?
Over what distance?
Does that include carrying a ball which may prevent arms being used as a sprinter would?
Boots instead of running spikes?

| Keith Fielding of Salford could also run a bit. I wonder what he could have achieved with a more glamorous club. I think he also did well in various versions of Superstars.

| You couldn't have had a much more glamorous club than Salford at the time Keith Fielding played for them.

| Maybe glamorous was the wrong word. In terms of big names they certainly had plenty (David Watkins and Mike Coulson come to mind) but apart from a Challenge Cup Final in 1969 (against Castleford. I lived near Pontefract at the time. The town was divided with the Featherstone half wanting Salford to win) they were more style than substance and never quite reached the heights. A case of the whole being less than the sum of the parts.
