| The Euro based players surely should have sensed which way the wind was blowing as soon as TWP withdrew from the 2020 SL.
At least they might have time to find a club before the start of the 2021 season, but if any had given notice on 'day jobs' then, with all that is going on, - sharp intake of breath.
Ps: Hope you're well, Budge

| Donnyman and a few other of us have been proved correct all along , the top and bottom of it is you just can not plonk teams from thousands of miles away and expect it to be a success . All it becomes is Millionaire play things until they become bored . All that the virus has done is bring forward the inevitable .As for players signing for Ottawa then more fool them .

| This last comment on the above link of "The Aces remain a proud member of the RFL and will now concentrate efforts on the future, and focus on bringing professional rugby league to TD Place Stadium in 2022." I find cringe worthy they haven't even passed or kicked a ball yet, he knows how to tell a yarn

| If Canada was rugby league mad as I have seen posted on social media quite a lot, then they can form their own league/leagues. Nothing stopping them.

| First and foremost I feel for all the lads that have signed with them. If its true that part-time players have quit their jobs to take full-time contracts then that's a big issue. See how it pans out but perhaps clubs need to be given some dispensation on salary caps and/or overseas quotas to find these lads a spot, even if just for 2021.

NO, they will improve the game in the UK vastly. The sooner we have more clubs from USA & Canada in SL, the better. I hate all these clubs that have been going for over a 100 years, and still persists with bringing their own players through the junior and BARLA ranks. The M62 has a lot to answer for, apart from it's ridiculous traffic jams.

Take that word out and you will find Canada Rugby Union is indeed making great strides, which is why Canada Rugby league cannot do so especially when the owner of the Canadian Rugby League club didn't bother to form anything but a beer festival, and could not be bothered signing up to Bob Jowett's Canada RL.

Thanks for that, really silly childish goading by the usual suspect.........
Firstly we must remember that Toronto Wolfpack were not quite the full subject of the SL/RFL analysis of expansion to North America. The inclusion of Ottawa and New York was all part of the analysis, and that analysis was that when we were heading for a world cup in North America then such clubs could only benefit from that, and maybe there could be some growth, but Argyle was just having a laugh, and it became clear Union was far more established and creating far more interest.
As always the game has to dress things up to try to limit perceived bad publicity, they are floating the idea that Ottawa will be back year after next. Three things:-
1. Why would the game here let them back if they have concluded North American expansion is a dead duck???
2. And more to the point how would they come back given the OSEG group, who Perez was relying on are in trouble???
3. And even more to the point before they could come back 2022 the Championship & League one will be slimmed right down with no room for phoney clubs .
P.S. this is nowt to do with Covid

This party took Kennedy's post to be ironic. Nige, best cut out all that confusing double-stopping.

https://www.totalrl.com/ottawa-aces-not ... 21-season/
It is a sorry blow for the Aces playing squad, who are now free agents and on the lookout for a club at a time when many have finalised their recruitment and are feeling the pinch as a result of Covid.
=#FF0000well that questionable as covid was around at the begining of the year but they still chose to sign players
The Aces were going to be full-time and many [size=150 players had given up part-time jobs to join the club[/size.
=#FF0000reassurances must of been given no one would of been foolish enough not to concisider covid situation
It’s understood the club will offer financial compensation to players, thought to be in the region of two months salary, while they look for new contracts.
=#FF0000well that's not going to be much relief to the players now is it 2 months wages and then what, its to be hoped some clubs resign them back but I fair bet they have now replaced them and won't have the finances
now silent h please do tell us where the future lays for the these poor lads

Here is the problem below and it's not Covid.
Covid hasn't destroyed the "expansion" of Rugby League in North America what has destroyed it is:-
1. Collapse of the plans to run an RL a world cup there due to the lack of interest
2. Growth of Rugby Union which has taken all the "Rugby" interest in North America
3. No desire from Rich North Americans to invest in RL clubs even with TWP Ottawa and NY sat there waiting for it to come
4. No player development on any scale
and finally
5. An unworkable "expansion" plan in which North American clubs were earmarked to come into Superleague one by one until there were enough of them to get a massive TV deal from North American TV,.........
This involved replacing Wakefield, London, HKR Castleford and Salford with TWP, Ottawa, New York, Boston and Montreal.
This was clearly not "Expansion" it was substitution in which a guaranteed SKY TV deal was to be abandoned for a pie in the sky American deal
It was an attempt to grab players from here and take them to North America.
It wasn't "expansion" and the Danny Lockwoods. Martyn Sadlers and all those who shamefully peddled it week after week, and got so many people going, ought to face up to this reality......
